Save some money

Before you get into your car next time, do yourself a favor and inspect your windshield. The places that rock and debris like to conceal their damage is; under the wiper area, on top of the inspection and registration stickers and close to the edges. These are places that we see all the time as the starting place for big cracks.

Our customers often say “I did not even see the rock hit and did not see that place on my glass.” The point is that we see only where we look from inside the car.

Rock chip repair is either FREE with your full coverage insurance or only $40 out of pocket. A new windshield can be as much as $500 in some cases. Which would you rather spend?

Hot weather is costly for automobile owners

A simple little pebble that flies up from the road and hits your windshield has cost that you probably did not think about.

First of all, that little chip it caused in your windshield will eventually grow into a crack. A crack creates a safety hazard because in the event of an accident, your airbags will not work because that damaged windshield is weak and will not allow the airbags to use the glass as a backstop. Your windhield will buckle in the exptreme presure of a deployed airbag.

Before the hot weather causes your chip to turn into a crack, let AutoGlass Express fix it. Most repairs are FREE with full coverage insurance. If you do not have full coverage or comprehensive, we will repair it for only $40.

Windshield repair – misconceptions

If you are like me, you have noticed a lot of television and radio advertisements by Safelite.  Actors can make any business look good.

Bigger is not better as they say.  Although Safelite is the largest auto glass company, they are not necessarily the best.  Their claims about windshield chip repair are in my opinion very misleading.  Their process is not the best and is false in it’s claim.  First, their equipment and resin are not magic.  Not every chip disappears as they show in their commercials.  In reality, there is usually about 85% clarity.  A successful repair is identified by how the void or damaged area is filled and not the color or disappearing that takes place.  The resin used by AutoGlass Express was developed by Glasweld.  Glasweld is the world’s most technologically advanced producer of the equipment and resins for windshield repair.

If you want it done right, use a glass shop that uses the best equipment and supplies for the job at hand.

What is included in the cheapest price on a windshield?

We receive calls everyday from people shopping around for the best price on a windshield.  Every glass shop in town has a price within $10 to $30 on most glass.

So why choose AutoGlass Express?  We give you a lot more than a competitive price.

What is in our price?  (1) You will receive only OEM quality glass products.  Most of the glass shops get their glass from the same suppliers (there are only 4 suppliers).  (2) The supplies and accessories should be quality: urethane (the glue that holds the glass in), the primers used on the metal and the glass and the moldings (the rubber trim on the outside of the windshield).  We use SRP, one the best if not the best of all brands of urethane and primers.

The methods, skills and care that goes into each repair or replacement is crucial.  We take great care in the way we remove trim and parts of the vehicle.  Trim can be damaged if not removed carefully.    We tape vehicles so we avoid damage to paint while performing our service.

Our technicians carefully trim the old urethane so that there is a smooth surface left before gluing the new glass in.  We use primer on the metal and glass so that the glue sticks to both.  Doing this assures that your vehicle does not leak air or water.

AutoGlass Express’ special treatment service is Free.   We go beyond providing quality installations.  We treat you like our own family.  We want you to be able to say only good things to your friends and people you know about your experience with us.  You receive things like: a ride to work or home, a free vacuum service and a free rock chip repair for a year after we replace your windshield.

Check us out and see why we are one the most referred auto glass shops in East Texas.  Come by our shop on University Blvd and see our customer wall to see first hand the hundreds of comment cards.  If that does not sell you on doing business with us, then customer service does not matter and only a cheap price will make you happy.  ;-)

Why is a windshield crack a safety concern?

A cracked or improperly installed windshield can be a danger to you and your
passenger’s safety.   Your windshield (1) prevents passengers from being ejected during an accident (2) is a “backstop” for air bags being part of the structural integrity necessary to absorb the force of a deployed airbag (3) Finally, your windshield supports the roof.  It is designed to prevent the roof from crushing you in a roll over accident.  Reports show that up to 60% of the roof structure is provided from auto glass.

Car Windows Won’t Roll Right?

It is inevitable that your car window will stop working as it did when it
was new. Do not despair. It can be fixed.

After a car is 4 or 5 years old, the window motors and regulators wear out.
The parts are both mechanical and electric.

The window is attached to a bar that is connected to cables and a motor.
The bar and cables together are referred as a “regulator”. The regulator is
connected to an electric motor.

When the window stops rolling up and down properly, it is usually one of 4
things: 1) Regulator 2) Window Motor 3) Switch (the button you push to
roll the window down) or 4) the actual window itself because the clips are
broken that screw into the regulator.

Repair and replacement of window motors and regulators cost between $150 to
$350 depending on the car you drive. If you are low on funds, an honest  auto glass shop can stabilize your window  into a up position temporarily by placing screws into the door frame and  regulator. When you are ready to replace the motor and regulator, the auto  glass shop can simply remove the temporary  screws and put you back on the road with a fully functional window.

Winterize Your Windshield

Yes you saw it right.  What does winterizing your windshield mean?

In extreme temperature seasons (winter and summer), your windshield is under a lot of additional stress.  When you have damage from a rock or road debris, chips can spread much easier.

Specifically what happens in the winter or cold weather conditions, your glass will be cold from the outside air temperature.
When you start your car, the first thing you do is turn your defroster and heater on.  That sudden temperature change on your glass causes it to expand and turn simple chips into a crack.

Before cold weather examine your windshield and look for rock chips in your glass.  See http://www.rockchipexpress.com/Gallery.html for
examples of chips.

Keep in mind that most insurance companies will pay 100% of chip repairs under full coverage comprehensive policies.  The insurance
company would prefer to pay for a $50 repair instead of a $350 windshield.

Call us today at (903) 566-2424 and schedule your repair before it is too late.
